Mahindra & Mahindra, the largest utility vehicle maker in the country, has said that it will not roll-out any Ssangyong portfolio vehicles in the Indian market in near future as the company wants to focus on its aim of becoming a global SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) major.

In a recent statement, Rajesh Jejurikar, Head of Automotive Business Operations at M&M, said, "There's no immediate plan to have a car strategy. The focus is to drive a global SUV strategy.” He added, "At M&M, we feel that it is appropriate to have a single car in a portfolio of SUVs."

At present, the only passenger car in the company’s India portfolio is the entry level sedan Verito, which is a renamed version of the company’s previous Logan sedan. Besides this, the company sells a range of popular SUV’s in the Indian market including Mahindra Scorpio, Bolero and Xylo.

It is to be mentioned here that M&M has recently acquired the bankrupted Korean firm Ssangyong. Initially, there were rumors that Mahindra will enhance its India portfolio by launching global portfolio vehicles of Ssangyong in the Indian market. But now the company has made it clear that it has no plans of launching Ssangyong vehicles in the country in near future.
