Nissan has announced its plan to launch the new X-Trail Hybrid in India by the end of 2017. The new model comes forth as one the eight models which the automaker plans to introduce by 2021. Yesterday, Nissan launched the 2017 Terrano in India with cosmetic as well as interior feature upgrades. The next-in-line second-generation X-Trail will be launched towards the end of this year.

Under the hood, the upcoming Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will be powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that is mated to a six-speed CVT transmission. Along with a 31Kw motor, the vehicle will generate around 180bhp of power. Interestingly, we believe that the upcoming model might also get a 4-wheel drive system and a seven-seat combination, which is indeed a first in the segment. Speaking about the upcoming vehicle Satinder Singh Bajwa, Vice President - Sales, Network and Customer Relations, Nissan Motor India cited that the new model might address rising pollution levels in major cities like New Delhi and Mumbai as well as other cities which might also face similar situations.

On the safety and convenience aspect, Nissan will offer the X-Trail with an interesting set of features like vehicle dynamic control, hill start, ABS and active ride control. As for features, the new Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will get leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, touchscreen infotainment system. Additional details about the vehicle will be known in next few months. Post launch, along with Toyota Camry, the vehicle will also compete against the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe and the Honda CR-V. We anticipate that the Nissan X-Trail Hybrid might be priced between Rs 30 lakh – Rs 35 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
