The Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Nissan Motors is planning to launch its recently introduced global saloon – Sylphy – in the Indian market by the end of this year. The new saloon will be shelved in the Nissan’s India portfolio between the price segment of mid-size sedan Sunny and premium sedan Teana. The company has showcased the car at the recently held Beijing motor show.

The new Nissan Sylphy is expected to be shelved in the price segment of Rs 12 to 14 lakh in the country, where it will be competing with the likes of Renault Fluence, Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura, Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Corolla Altis.

As per the industry reports, the new Nissan Fluence will be rolled-out in both petrol and diesel versions in the Indian auto market. The petrol version of the car will be carrying a 1.8-litre petrol engine incorporated with optional six-speed manual and CVT gearboxes. On the other hand, the diesel version will be carrying a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine, which delivers a peak power of 108 bhp. This is the same diesel engine which comes powered in Nissan’s global partner Renault’s Fluence model.
