The Japanese car maker Nissan is all set to launch its much awaited mid-size sedan – Nissan Sunny – in the Indian market today. The Nissan Sunny is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 7 to 9 lakh in petrol version only. The diesel version of the car will be rolled-out after a few months.
With the launch of all new Nissan Sunny, the Japanese car maker will mark its debut in the mid-size segment, where it was absent so far. The major rivals of the cars in the Indian auto market will be Maruti SX4, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Vento and Honda City.
The exterior designing of the car looks somewhat similar to the existing Nisan Micra hatchback, which was launched in the Indian market in July 2010. Nissan Sunny is based on the same V-platform that’s been used presently in the Micra hatchbacks.
The petrol version of the car will come powered by 1.5 litre petrol engine which is capable of delivering a peak power of 99 bhp along with a peak torque of 134 Nm. The new Sunny sedan will be offering a mileage of 16.95 kmpl, as certified by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India).
