      Nissan Ready with a New Hatchback Model Micra

      Nissan is ready to bring its hatch back model Nissan Micra to India. The small car segment in India is booming and every auto maker has an eye on it. Nissan has plans to bring at least eight models by 2012. It plans to manufacture its hatchback model at its Chennai plant.

      Neeraj Garg, director, marketing and sales, Nissan Motor India said in a statement: “By 2012, we plan to have eight products in the market, of which a few will be imported. We will also export cars manufactured here in completely built-up form as per current plans.”

      Micra is 25 year old compact car from Nissan that would make its debut in next two years in the small car segment that accounts for 75% of sales in India. Although, Nissan has not confirmed the plans but they did say that they are working on a hatchback model.

      Micra shall be manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai plant in collaboration with Renault. The entry level car has been named as W02A and anther model has been named as W02B. The company has already expansion plans and major investments lined up for its Chennai plant as it would use this plant for export purposes.

      Nissan currently has X-Trail SUV and Taena sedan in India.
