      Nissan Motor India post 11 per cent YoY growth during 2012-13

      Nissan Motor India Private Limited, a completely owned subsidiary of the Japanese multinational car maker Nissan Motor Co., has announced a 11 per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) growth in its annual sales figures for the 2012-13 fiscal. The company sold a total of 36,975 units during 2012, as compared to 33,270 units sold in year-ago period in the domestic passenger car market. The announcement came in Chennai on April 2, 2013.

      Expressing his views on the annual sales numbers recorded by the company in 2012-13 fiscal period, Kenichiro Yomura, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer, Nissan Motor India Private Limited, was quoted as saying, “Given the operating environment, this is a good performance. We have maintained our sales momentum in India and continue to scale up our operations in line with our long term strategic goals for the market. We have also significantly expanded our dealer network to 95 over the last twelve months, underlining our future, long-term commitment to India making the Nissan brand accessible to more and more people.”

      Nissan Motor India's best selling models during the 2012-13 fiscal have been revealed as the Sunny mid size sedan and the Micra premium hatchback. As per reports, the Japanese auto maker's flagship product, Sunny accounted for 24,011 units sold in the country during last fiscal. Further, some 11,454 units of the cute Nissan Micra hatch found buyers in India in the same period. The company's first model in the utility vehicle segment, the Evalia Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) recorded sales of some 1,396 units. Nissan Motor India had introduced the Evalia model in October 2012.

      Nissan Motor India aspires to have a model in every prominent segment of the domestic passenger car market, and has revealed intentions to introduce as many as ten new products in the next four years. The Japanese auto maker's diverse product portfolio, comprises the likes of premium models like the Teana luxury saloon, X-Trail Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and the much fawned upon 370z sports car as well.

      Commenting on the company's plans for the domestic passenger car market, Nitish Tipnis, Director, Sales and Marketing, Hover Automotive India, Nissan Motor India's sales partner, said, “We have continued to grow in spite of a market slowdown only because of our strong customer focus, which has allowed us to keep our sales targets consistent. We will continue to bring our customers even more excitement in the marketplace throughout the next fiscal year with the introduction of a new and exciting product range to meet customer needs. This will be reinforced with our philosophy of providing unmatched customer service.”
