Nissan March/Micra Coming to India

Nissan is preparing to launch its small car model March in India. The new model will be manufactured at its Chennai plant from next year. The car is sold as Nissan Micra outside Japan and is expected to be christened as Micra in India as well. The production for the same will commence in March 2010.

Nissan intends to launch the next generation model of Micra in March next year which will be available internationally, two months before the Indian launch. Nissan also intends to shift its production base out of Japan and as per the latest ongoing plans, Micra for Japanese Domestic market will be manufactured in Thailand and for the rest of Asia the manufacturing base will be China and India.

Nissan recently launched ‘Leaf’ as its zero emission and eco-friendly car in Japan. It is the latest environment friendly car that does not even have a tail pipe! It is the first electric car that has a seating capacity of 4-5 people and can be aptly termed as a completely commercial passenger car.
