      Nissan Leaf wins 2011 World Car of the Year award

      Nissan Leaf, the popular electric car, has been named as the ‘world car of the year’ at the ongoing New York International Auto Show. The car was also named as runner-up for the ‘World Green Car Award’ that was won by Chevrolet Bolt, at the Expo.

      Besides Nissan Leaf, two other car models which were among the top three competitors for the award include Audi A8 and BMW 5-Series. As per the Jurors, "The Leaf is the gateway to a brave new electric world."

      The Nissan Leaf has been appreciated throughout the world for its zero emission and considerably well performance. The car was noted by the Jurors of the award for its zero emissions and its generally carlike performance

      The other award winning cars include Ferrari 458 Italia that won World Performance Car of the Year and Aston Martin Rapide that was awarded the World Design Car of the Year.

      Meanwhile, Nissan has announced that it would resume taking US reservations for the Leaf on 1st of May, 2011.
