The sales figures of the popular Nissan Leaf electric vehicles has surpassed the crucial 10,000 unit mark within just 13 months of its launch in the US market. The huge sales figure has been registered by the car despite the fact that it is still not available in all states of America. The company had rolled-out the 10,000th unit of this model in the second week of this month, which was the last day of Detroit Motor Show. The Leaf model was launched in the US market in December 2010, and since then it has been among the best selling electric cars in the country, receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers.

As per a recent statement given Marketing & Sales Strategist, Nissan Leaf, Nissan America, by Mr. Brendan Jones, "From a Leaf perspective, 2011 was a great year and very positive for the company. 10,000 sales is more EVs than have been sold in the United States — and 20,000 globally — than all the other OEMs combined throughout the world. So that's an outstanding achievement."

LEAF, which is an acronym for Leading Environmentally friendly Affordable Family car, is also available in a number of other markets like Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Europe, Mexico and Japan. So far, more than 20,000 units of this car have been sold in the global market.

The company is planning to enhance the foot prints of this model in all 50 state of America by the month of March this year.
