There was a time when 4-cylinder engines powered cars but now the stage belongs the massive V12 units. The tag for making the world's most powerful engine belongs to a company called AMS. It has developed a massive powertrain that is capable of churning out 1500 bhp worth of power alongside churning a torque of 1375 Nm.
In 2011, the renowned engine modification company developed AMS Alpha 10 and AMS Alpha 12 packages. Both the kits were applied on the Nissan R35 GT-R making it feature among the fastest cars in the world. After that the company fine tuned the Alpha 12 kit to deliver 1500 bhp of power. With this high output, the Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12 soon over became the fastest from the GT-R series. The task of making the car street legal was soon accomplished as it passed all legal tests. During initial testing stages, this 1500 bhp car clocked 100 kmph to 200 kmph in just 3.31 seconds. At present, the company is claiming the car can power from naught to 100 kmph in just 2.4 seconds while attaining a top speed of 370 kmph.
On of the main highlights in the Alpha 12 engine is the AMS Turbo System, which helps in achieving the 1500 bhp mark through an enormous and usable powerband. Apart from this, the company also offered several Alpha Series components to integrate an unmatched power and performance. In 2011, the Alpha brand engines has created the Worlds Fastest GT-R record as it clocked 381 kmph during lap timings. It also bagged the record of being the fastest GT-R to ever to complete in a one-mile run as it clocked the same in just 22.538 seconds while for quarter mile run, the AMS Alpha 12 only needed 9.447 seconds to complete the race.
Generally, while making these high-specification engines, a number of issues like narrow power bend hamper the driveability of the car. However, this was not the case in Alpha 12 as every element of the package was fine-tuned in order to extract the best possible performance from the car.
