      Nissan Expands its Network and Product Line in India

      Nissan is expanding its dealer network in India and recently opened its new dealership in Pune. The company also intends to broaden its product portfolio in India. It plans to introduce nine new models by 2012 of which five will be manufactured in the country itself and four will be imported as completely built unit.

      Nissan currently retails its two premium models X-Trail, 370Z, and Teana in India. It now plans to bring its Nissan Murano and a small hatchback model Nissan Micra for the Indian customers. Nissan X-Trail and Nissan Teana are currently being imported as completely built units. Nissan Murano is also expected to be imported as a CBU while Nissan Micra will be developed at its Chennai plant. The company has especially developed a new V-platform that will produce cars specifically for the developed markets.

      The five cars that will be manufactured in India will comprise of Nissan Micra which will be a hatchback model and will come to Indian market in May this year. Later a sedan version of the model will be introduced in India. Three other models will come to India next year that will be compact cars as well and will be built on Nissan’s new V-platform. Nissan Micra will have 85 percent local components and the exports of this model will begin in August this year.

      Nissan
