So, if you thought that the only way to spot cars at night was their headlights. Nissan has, however, changed the concept about that and made a startling invention. For the first time, the brand has developed a paint based on UV technology, which will illuminate the car in the dark. Nissan is the first car, which has utilised the technology on the exterior of the car.

The ultraviolet-energised paint on the Nissan leaf electric car model has been developed by the utilisation of some secret organic materials by the company. The Japanese car maker has employed this technology on a trial basis. The ultraviolet-energised paint on the car is Starpath, which is applied by spraying as well as absorbing UV energy from the sun during the day.

The car is able to retain the light from eight to 10 hours after sunset. This paint technology has been developed by Hamish Scott, a Surrey-based inventor, who is making trials for this glow-in-the-dark cycle path at Cambridge. This paint material has been developed from rare earth materials, including Strontium Aluminate. This compound is odourless, solid and is biologically and chemically inert. However, whether this technology will be utilised in future cars is not yet known. It is better to get this wrap on a customised basis on your own car. This will have a better visibility while locating your car in a dark parking.
