Spy pictures suggest that the next generation Nissan leaf is in works and the spotted car teases us with the new design language it carries.

Despite the heavy camouflage the vehicle gives us a glimpse into some of the features worked into the new car. This includes sharp daytime running lights and the V-motion grille, styling cues adopted from some of the latest Nissans. The silhouette reveals a sloping roofline and quarter windows to enhance visibility. The rear carries basic styling cues such as a spoiler and reflectors on the bumpers. The overall design of the new Leaf is sleeker and more aerodynamic to boost efficiency.

Inside the cabin is a more conventional dashboard with a TFT screen which replaces the instrument cluster whilst the touch screen infotainment system gets centre stage. The familiar round gear selector is carried forward from the predecessor, but the centre stack looks more in line with the current Nissan family.

The new car is expected to be powered by an electric motor with a battery capacity of 60 kWh, which is double the capacity of the current Nissan Leaf. This should also help the new car in increasing its range up to 320kms.

The second generation Leaf will be unveiled on 6 September 2017 at Nissan’s headquarters in Tokyo. The new electric car is expected to make its way to the Indian market and it could make a debut in 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.
