One of the leading Japanese auto makers, Nissan Motor Company, has declared Hover Automotive India (HAI) as its solitary distributor in the domestic market. The four year legal agreement between the two has been signed to work towards increasing the market share of the car maker by improving its sales figures and establishing after-sales service points throughout the country. The Japanese auto company is looking forward to expanding its dealership network to 100 in the next couple of months.

Commenting on the agreement between the two companies, Toru Hasegawa, Corporate Vice President for Africa, Middle East and India, Nissan quoted, “Today's confirmation that we are strengthening our bond with HAI will significantly benefit our business within one of Nissan's key strategic global markets, and shows our commitment to further localize our brand within India. I am delighted that we will be collaborating even more closely in the future, and look forward to the benefits this will bring, not only to our operation, but to our many Indian customers.”

Adding to the statement, G M Singh, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, HAI, said, “This is a testament to the strong relationship that Nissan and HAI have built together over the past four years. We look forward to an even closer collaboration with Nissan, our Dealer partners, Banking partners and Vendors in offering innovative and customer centric solutions to the Indian market.”

In India, the auto giant presently manufactures its hatchback Micra and well-established sedan Sunny at its Oragadam facility, situated close to Chennai. The company will initiate the production of its yet-to-be launched urban class Utility Vehicle (UV) Evalia in the same unit by the end of this year. Since the launch of Nissan Micra and Sunny, the sales volume of the car maker surged to 33,268 units in 2011 from the 200 units recorded in 2008. In order to meet the increasing demand, Nissan’s production capacity was modified and increased to 400,000 units annually in 2011 from the earlier 200,000 units.

Hover Automotive has expertise in analysing the trends followed in the Indian market and this will help the car maker to devise a better customer approach by meeting their specific demands. The distributor will also act as a service partner of Nissan, offering all its marketing, sales and after sales services in India. This move by Nissan Motor will also help the company localise in the Indian auto market.
