Nissan achieves a 21 per cent growth in December

Nissan Motors India has managed to achieve a domestic sale of 3,711 units in December 2016. When compared to same month last year, the company managed to sell 3,065 units. This translates to a year-on-year increment of 21 per cent. These domestic sale figures are a combined count of Nissan and Datsun vehicles in India.

Apart from that, Nissan and Datsun’s first three-quarter of the fiscal year 2016 saw a combined growth rate of 50 per cent. The sales growth between April and December of 2016 of both the manufacturers combined is second-fastest among car brands in India as compared to same period last year. However, owing to the demonetisation in India, the sales dropped from 3,975 units sold in November to 3,711units in December.

Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India, commenting on the sales results said, “Nissan India achieved healthy sales in December by posting 21 percent year-on-year growth despite the challenges of the demonetisation issue. This strong performance came on the back of continued success and great customer response to the Redigo. We have achieved consistently strong sales in the first three-quarters of this fiscal year.  The growth achieved from April through December positions us as the second-fastest growing company in the passenger vehicle segment in India.”
