Nico Rosberg won the first ever race in Azerbaijan, extending his lead in the 2016 Formula 1 championship to 24 points. Ferrari took the second position with Sebastian Vettel, ahead of Sergio Perez who grabbed second podium of the season for Force India.

Hamilton had a dismal weekend crashing in qualifying and then finishing fifth, behind the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen. The tight and fast street circuit of Baku is a new addition to the Formula 1 calendar. After incident marred Friday and Saturday sessions, it turned out to be a clean race today with no incidents. Bottas finished sixth ahead of the two Red Bulls of Riccardo and Verstappen, while Hulkenberg and Massa finished ninth and tenth respectively in the second Force India and Williams.

This is the second podium for Force India this season as the Silverstone based team looks to chase down Williams for the fourth position in the constructors title. Ahead, Nico Rosberg leads the driver’s championship ahead of Hamilton and Vettel.
