As new regulations in the capital have affected sales for 10 year old diesel vehicles in Delhi, its neighbour Agra seems to be making most out of it. Owing to new regulation dozens of diesel cars are being sold Agra owing to rise in demand in state like Uttar Pradesh. Decade old SUV's, hatchbacks and sedans are being sold for anything between Rs. 40,000 to about Rs. 1.5 lakhs.

Speaking more on the occasion, Arif Khan, a dealer of pre-used cars at Delhi Gate in Agra , said, “It's a hot cake-deal for consumers who prefer diesel vehicles for better pick-up and mileage over petrol variants. Before the NGT order, we sold perhaps a dozen cars a month and that too year-old models. But the day after the NGT order, we have been flooded with queries on decade-old diesel variants, especially those which are registered in Delhi and have now been banned by the tribunal.”

Adding to it, Harpreet Soni, a pre-used car dealer near Baluganj, said, “Since, the owners of diesel vehicles in Delhi are in no position to use them, they have no other option but to sell them in other states or at pre-used car markets. The prices in Delhi have fallen by up to 75% and over here, we are offering the pre-used cars at a minimum rate of Rs 40,000, excluding the paperwork.”

As per the regulation, vehicles around 10 years old shall not be allowed to ply on roads whereas 10 year old diesel vehicles shall also not be allowed to enter in the city. Speaking to sources, senior RTO officer Om Prakash Singh said, "Though at present there is no ban or any kind of issue or purchase of decade-old cars from Delhi, but in the coming years NGT may impose such a ban in Agra, too, as it's a sensitive place and has high air pollution level. To buy a car, one just needs to have a 'no objection certificate (NOC)' from the Delhi RTO for the purchase of a diesel car and after that one can register it with Agra RTO for new chassis number after one year.”
