These are exclusive first shots of the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class. This sighting proves that the car maker is not discontinuing the model, as reported by some media agencies earlier this year.

On the exterior front, the basic overall design of the existing car has been retained. However, the softer design lines have been replaced by edgier ones. Thanks to these stronger lines, larger wheels and the wider wheel arches, the new B-Class looks sportier than before.

Although details regarding the powertrains haven't been divulged by Mercedes, rumours state that the present 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.6-litre petrol motors could be retuned and used in the new car. It is also possible that the new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel could find its way into this model.

Reports state that Mercedes-Benz is also developing a plug-in hybrid and a fully-electric version of the B-Class, both of which are expected to hit the range, down the line. Also, the new B-Class will sport an upgraded cabin that will include more comfort features, a modern infotainment system with better smartphone connectivity functions, and navigation. Expect the new B-Class to hit the global market in the second half of 2018.
