Peugeot launched the all-new 508 sedan back in 2011 as a replacement for the 407 as well as the 607. The sedan is now in dire need of a replacement. A test mule of the same model was spotted for the first time on the public roads.

The current generation 508 is based on PSA’s PF3 platform. However, the new generation of the family sedan will employ the new EMP2 architecture. As far as powertrain is concerned, the engine and transmission options will be similar to the one offered in the new 308 apart from an alternative plug-in hybrid variant. Once revealed, the new 508 will continue to face competition from the likes of VW Passat, Skoda Superb, Ford Mondeo, and the Opel Insignia. According to speculation, there won’t be an equivalent
