As you can see in the pictures, a heavily camouflaged GLE-Class prototype was recently spotted testing. The upcoming GLE-Class is an all-new car that will integrate significant design changes and  shift over to the MRA platform which is what the new E-Class is based on.

Even though the test mule was draped extensively, you can spot the curvier design lines in comparison to the current car. This prototype can also be seen wearing new head lights with DRLs and a new tail lamp cluster. The biggest highlight though, would be the stretched wheelbase and the longer rear door which inadvertently means this cabin will be a more spacious one. Despite the new car being markedly bigger than the one it replaces, there will hardly be any weight gain as the MRA platform incorporates a number of weight reducing technologies.

Powering the new GLE-Class will be the same set of powertrains that muscle the E-Class, however reports state that the new inline-six engines which will debut in the S-Class facelift next month could also be introduced in the E-Class and the GLE-Class. Mercedes-Benz is expected to reveal their next-generation GLE-Class in 2018, so stay tuned for further details.
