The next generation of the Hyundai Verna has been spotted in production guise in China. The car was showcased as a concept vehicle earlier this year at the Auto China 2016 and this production model is a bit scaled down from the concept car but follows all the design cues of the latter.

The photos show that the new Verna will get the Hyundai grille and one that is very similar to the one seen on the India-bound Elantra. The side and rear profile remain the same as the concept car but with the tail lamps looking slightly toned down.

This new Verna will measure 4.38 metres in length with a wheelbase of 2.60 metres making it 30cm longer than the outgoing model. It is expected to be offered with the same 1.6-litre petrol, 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel units from the current car. However, it seems possible that Hyundai may replace the four-speed AT with the same six-speed unit found in the Elantra and Sonata.

This will be a crucial vehicle for Hyundai when it comes to battling the C-segment sedans as the Verna has fallen behind its rivals. We can expect this car sometime in 2017 with full local production of both RHD and LHD models.
