What you see in the pictures is Citroen’s second generation C3 Picasso being tested.
Citroen first debuted the C3 Picasso mini MPV in 2008, after which the model was facelifted in 2012. The prototype in the pictures highlight the funky design of the new car plus the swollen dimensions which hint at more cabin space. Sources also suggest that this model has borrowed design cues from the bigger C4 Picasso MPV, like the head lamps and front bumper layout.
The second generation C3 Picasso will be underpinned by PSA’s PF1 architecture from the Peugeot 208, unlike the present C3 Picasso which is based on the Peugeot 207’s platform. PSA’s PF1 architecture is the same platform that PSA plans to share with Opel for their third generation Meriva MPV.
Power for the new Citroen C3 Picasso will be sourced from a range of petrol and diesel engines. While diesel power will come from the 1.6-litre BlueHDi with different power outputs like 75bhp, 99bhp or 120bhp, the petrol motors range from the 68bhp 1.0-litre PureTech engine to the 1.2-litre motor with 82bhp or 110bhp.
Expect Citroen to introduce the all-new generation of the C3 Picasso in the first quarter of 2018.
