Audi will showcase the next generation of its Audi A8 sedan at their annual summit in Barcelona tomorrow. This is the four-ringed automaker’s fifth generation for the A8 and has been doing the rounds for the last two years in the form of the Prologue concept which we got to see at Delhi 2016.
On the back of several teaser trailers as well as our multitude of India exclusive spy snaps that we have been sharing, we can confirm that the A8 will sport an evolutionary design with all the signature Audi design elements. This includes the chrome grille, LED matrix head lamps, tail lamps clusters, sporty silhouette and of course, the famous four-ringed logo indicating its Ingolstadt origins.
Given how big an evolutionary jump Audi is making with this new A8, this car is sure to come loaded with new technology, both in terms of driver aids as well as systems that will improve overall efficiency. The former includes self-parking and semi-autonomous driving systems while the latter will comprise things like a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and cylinder deactivation.
This new A8 will be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines but we expect that Audi will make an announcement about hybrid as well as electric models. Also expected to be a part of the official announcement will be an expansion in the number of body styles.
It is almost certain that this A8 will come to India and maybe much sooner than expected. At least two of its variants will be locally assembled at the German automaker’s plant in Aurangabad when the car is launched here sometime in 2018.
