      Next-Gen Volkswagen Passat likely to debut at 2014 Paris Motor Show

      German car manufacturer Volkswagen is expected to unveil the new generation Passat saloon at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The vehicle has been spied during its test rounds in China. The new Passat sedan will be based on the Volkswagen’s popular MQB platform which also underpins the current generation Skoda Octavia and a wide range of cars.

      The new Volkswagen Passat will get a new fascia which includes a new grille complemented by sleek headlamps with LEDs. The new bumper features wide airdam and new fog lamp assembly. At the back, the sedan will feature newly designed tail lamps and new bumper. Its flared wheel arches will get a set of restyled alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the new Passat will sport new steering wheel, leather seats and gadgets.

      On technology front, the eighth generation VW Passat is expected to get a lightweight body, engine start/stop technology and 10-speed DSG transmission gearbox. The Hybrid and BlueMotion versions of the sedan are likely to be unveiled at the show as well.

      Volkswagen is also expected to introduce the new generation Passat in the Indian car market; however, nothing has been confirmed on the same.
