Ahead of its world premiere on June 2 in Ingolstadt, Germany, the new second generation A5 uncamouflaged test mule has been spotted in Mumbai. The new model incorporates design cues and wider stance from both the A4 and the outgoing A5. For now, the company has chosen to remain tightlipped with the car details.
Based on what could be seen, the new Audi A5 features new Matrix LED headlamps that complement the large hexagonal single frame grille in the front. The bumpers have been redesigned and sports five twin-spoke alloys, while the rear gets moulded spoiler on the liftgate and sleek LED taillamps. Based on the MLB Evo platform, the new model is expected to be lighter that the outgoing one.
Though details on the interior is not available for now, it is likely that the next-gen car will get a Virtual Cockpit display and Audi’s new MMI Touch. The car will get premium upholstery and might offer slightly improved cabin space for the occupants. As for safety, the next-gen Audi A5 will be offered with all modern safety equipment.
Under the hood, the next-gen Audi A5 will get a retuned turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. The tweaked engine might come mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission instead of the current eight-speed automatic gearbox. Top-of-the-line trim will get the Quattro all-wheel drive technology, while front-wheel-drive will be offered as standard on this model.
