Volvo India is looking forward to a cracker of a festive season with the introduction of the new S90. The brand, in all probability, will launch the S90 in the next couple of months. When launched, this new model will compete in the mid-size luxury sedan segment.
The S90 made its global debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show as a replacement for the old S80. The former has all the typical modern Volvo traits in its design including the iron slat front grille and Thor’s hammer headlamps. Inside, the S90 is similar to that of the XC90 with its minimalist design thanks to the large touchscreen and lack of any buttons on the dashboard.
Based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture platform, the new S90 will be offered with the same engine as the XC90. This means a 2-litre turbo diesel in two different state of tunes – 190bhp and 235bhp.
While the old S80 was never quite there to compete with the likes of BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class, the new S90 is a vastly improved proposition with the looks and technology to match its European rivals.
