Polestar, the performance brand of Volvo, has unveiled the 2018 S60 and V60 Polestar. It comes complete with additional aerodynamic components made of a carbon fibre material. The new material reportedly has increased the S60 and V60’s downforce by 30 per cent thus improving the handling and high speed stability.

The aerodynamic exterior package includes a new front splitter, side sills and a rear spoiler extension. Volvo says that many of these components were developed during the Polestar Cyan Racing’s secret Nurburgring test where the Polestar S60 claimed to be the fastest road-legal sedan to go round the Nordschleife race track in Germany.

Besides being more aerodynamic, the S60 and V60 also feature new gloss black Polestar wheels, carbon fibre door mirror casings and a new ‘Bursting Blue Metallic’ colour. The interior has been updated with new seat upholstery, blue contrast stitching and Polestar embroidery.
The firepower under the hood remains unchanged which means you still get the 1969cc, 4-cylinder engine featuring both - a turbo and a supercharger. It makes 367bhp of power and 470Nm of torque. All that power is sent to the road via an all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Both the S60 and the V60 Polestar will be made in limited numbers (1,500, to be precise), with each car sporting the individual number on the tread plate.
