Volkswagen has introduced a brand new Passat at the Paris Auto Show. The model is extremely successful in the US market and now Volkswagen intends to dominate the sales chart with its new Passat and Jetta models. It also intends to achieve the top sales spot in the global market by 2018. VW calls the 2011 model “seventh-generation” iteration of the Passat, but it is really more of a refresh or mid-cycle enhancement. The men in charge, Klaus Bischoff (VW head of design) and Walter de Silva (VW Group head of design), describe the new Passat as a car with “clean surfaces and an elegant yet imposing stance”.
The new Passat features a new set of headlamps and front grille, while the rear sees a stylish pair of taillights reminiscent of those fitted to the Golf. The handsome new Passat is slightly larger than the model it replaces, but the increase in size doesn’t make for a much bigger cabin.
The model will go on sale in the US market from middle of October and there are no reports or indications of the new model being introduced in the emerging markets especially India.
