The Fortuner SUV has been a popular name in its segment. Though the international markets received the new Fortuner a while ago, the Indian market is likely to get the new one soon. Fresh images indicate that the new model has already arrived at a certain dealership in Gujarat and very soon it will be delivered across other dealerships as well.
In terms of design, the new Fortuner gets more stylish and aggressive than ever before. The front sports a new slim grille design with chrome slats on each side. The sleeker headlamps with projector units and LED DRLs offer it a sportier appeal. Additionally, the bumpers have been redesigned with chrome accents and round fog lamp housings. The LED taillamps at the rear and reduced roofline render its sporty appeal. In terms of dimensions, the new model is not just 90mm longer and 15mm wider than the current model, but also has its height and wheelbase reduced by about 15mm and 5mm respectively. As for interior, it will now get a large infotainment system located in the centre of the dashboard along with premium leather upholstery.
The new Toyota Fortuner will be powered by 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre GD engine options which generate about 148bhp and 400Nm of torque, and 177bhp of power and 450Nm of torque respectively. Both the engines will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission and six-speed automatic transmission. The four-wheel drive system is likely to be offered in a bigger engine variant. It is to be seen if the Japanese automaker will also introduce a petrol variant this time. More details about the pricing aspect will be known in the coming days.
