Suzuki is ready to showcase a new plug-in hybrid model of Swift at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Show next month. It will be only a concept car that will carry some changes on the exterior to give it a distinguished look from the regular model. There is no official information about the model from the company and complete technical information about the new plug-in hybrid system is also lacking.
Suzuki has declined to reveal any technical details about the output figures and performance capabilities. However, the little information about the new models hints that it will be powered by small petrol engine coupled to an electric motor with electrical current stored in a lithium-ion battery pack. It is will be easily chargeable from an electric point at home. The main feature of new Swift hybrid model is that it runs mainly on electric motors and the fuel engine acts as a support system to recharge the batteries if they run low.
The new Swift hybrid model is Suzuki’s foray into the hybrid model technology. It is still in the concept stage but can be apparently roll into production state in less than 18 months. With an expected range of about 20km a day on electric power alone, the Swift is better suited for town work and short commuting.
