Suzuki will launch the new Alto model officially at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show 2009 next month. It has recently released pictures of the new concept car ahead of the show. The new mode is expected to be the latest eye-catcher at the Japanese car maker’s stands at the Auto Show. The theme of the display set for Suzuki will be “small cars for a big future.”

The new concept car promises more fuel economy and lower emission rates. The low weight of the car also promises better performance in spite of an electric motor. Interiors carry more storage space and are well suited for drivers of all ages. Other features include big speedometer for good legibility, simple switches, efficient storage spaces and a sizable floor-mounted gear lever.

The new model is from the 7th generation Alto that will be powered by 1.0L petrol engine with 50kW (68hp) of power output and 87Nm of torque and gives an acceleration of 0-100kmph in 16 seconds. It will be a four-passenger hatchback that will be 133.7 inches long and will ride on a 94.4-inch wheelbase. Under the hood, a typical kei car-size engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This car is front-wheel-drive, but Suzuki plans to offer some form of four-wheel drive.
