If well begun is half done then General Motors has already done its half of its share for the year. Its two new models Chevrolet Beat and Chevrolet Cruze have received raving response from the market and both the models have considerable waiting time for consumers to take delivery.
General Motors has lined up two-three new models in coming 12-18 months that will further strengthen its portfolio. Currently, it intends to launch new variants of Beat, Cruze and Spark in next 12 months to keep the momentum of sales ticking. Chevrolet Spark Electric variant is one of the most awaited ones that is slated for launch in second half of the year.
General Motors also plans to introduce a new SUV model in 2011 that will be priced between Rupees 8-10 lakh. The new SUV will be built on T300 series platform which is currently being used to build Chevrolet Beat and Cruze. General Motors also intends to increase localised component in Cruze to bring its cost in the range of Rs. 9-10 lakh. Apart from its new models, Chevrolet also intends to introduce a new variant of its entry level sedan Aveo in the Indian market.
