Pitched as an executive sedan, the new Skoda Octavia is stylish, aggressive and quite spacious. In comparison to previous generation models, the new Octavia is more powerful, fast and performance oriented. It is based on the highly acclaimed Modularer Querbaukasten (MQB) platform from Volkswagen. As a result of application of this platform, the new Skoda Octavia happens to be fuel efficient and safe along with controlled emissions. Notably, the MQB platform utilises a matrix of components in order to manufacture advanced vehicles. Interiors of the new Octavia have been redesigned to give it a more classy and modern look.

Skoda India is going to introduce two fuel variants of the third generation Octavia. The petrol variant of the executive sedan is going to be powered by a 1.8-litre engine whereas the diesel version will be fitted with a 2.0-litre TDI powertrain. Also, Skoda will place the third generation Octavia alongside the Laura. However, some sources claim that the company is likely to introduce an entry-level 1.4-litre petrol variant to replace the Laura.

Industry experts have suggested that the third generation Octavia is going to ride on the success of its previous models, making an impact on the market. It must be noted that the festive season is considered to be the best time to purchase a vehicle in India. Skoda is likely to stiffen the competition in executive sedan segment by launching the new Octavia, where it will be pitted against the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Renault Fluence, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Volkswagen Jetta.
