According to a report, Nissan will re-launch the X-Trail SUV in the Indian market during this festive season. First launched in 2004, the Nissan X-Trail was discontinued in the country in 2014 due to poor demand. The 2015 X-Trail will receive minor interior updates, and improved off-road capabilities.

Based on the modular CMF platform, the existing global model of the X-Trail looks more premium than the old one. Though, it shares resemblance with Nissan’s global crossovers such as Pathfinder, Juke, Patrol, Murano and Qashqai. This architecture will also underpin Nissan’s future products including hatchbacks, SUVs and saloons.

The 2015 Nissan X-Trail is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre dCi engine that will be paired to a CVT gearbox. Unlike the previous model, the new model will feature the company’s electronic 4WD system that will aid to its on and off-road performance. The interior of the new X-Trail will be significantly softened, and upmarket than the old one. It will be highlighted with black, beige and chrome, and get a piano black finish on the centre console.

For the first time, the new X-Trail will be offered with 7-seat configuration. The premium SUV will be equipped with an Active Ride Control that ensures a comfortable and smooth drive. This system scans the road conditions, and adjusts the suspension unit to tackle the potholes and bumps on uneven surface.

Since the 2015 Nissan X-Trail will be imported to India, it will become more expensive than its close rivals such as Honda CR-V and Hyundai Santa Fe. It is likely to be offered within the price bracket of Rs. 32 lakh – 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
