New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: What else can you buy?

Pricing for the Dzire petrol starts at Rs 5.45 lakh. For the price of entry-level Dzire, the LXI trim, you can have a go at the top-spec Wagon R VXI+ AMT (O), Celerio ZXI, or top notch Tiago; all three hatches get you a petrol automatic option which isn’t available for the entry-level Dzire. The newly introduced Tigor ‘styleback can be had in the Revotorq XT diesel guise with a manual transmission. You’ll get better boot space of 419litres in the Tigor compared to 378litres of the Dzire. The Datsun Go Plus T (O) is a seven seater option at this price point.

At the pricing of the Rs 6.45 lakh for the Dzire LDI, the Grand i10 Asta can get you an automatic B-segment hatch with automatic transmission in the entry level Dzire pricing. The top-of-the-line petrol Toyota Etios Liva can get you a reliable Japanese hatch for the price of the LDI trim. At Rs 6.29 lakh of VXI, the entry level EV Mahindra e2o Plus P4 will be an interesting buy for the tree huggers.

The VXI petrol Dzire is priced at Rs 6.29 lakh while the VDI diesel gets a price tag of Rs 7.76 lakh. The top-of-the-line Ignis Alpha would be a stylish alternative if you don’t need a boot to lug around, however, if you do need a boot the top-of-the-line Chevrolet Sail 1.3 LT ABS is where you can look. The diesel mill on the Sail produces the same amount of power as the Dzire, but the service network of Chevrolet lets the Sail down compared to the segment leader, Dzire. In the price of VXI/VDI Dzire, the entry level Mobilio E can get you seven seater options as well.

At the price tag of the ZXI/ZDI Dzire, the top-notch Swift ZDI, the Grand i10 Asta 1.2 CRDi, Fiat Punto Evo Emotion 1.3 are the B-segment hatchbacks one can look into. The Mahindra KUV100 presents a tall-boy hatch body style and can be had with the six-seater option in the K8 trim. Chevrolet Enjoy is the eight seater MPV one can look for instead of the compact sedan at this price point.

The ZXI automatic is retailing at Rs 7.52, which gets you entry level Honda WR-V. The crossover styling adds to the presence of the WR-V, but you only get a petrol manual at this price point. Another Nexa product for the price of ZXI/ZDI is the entry level S-Cross Sigma 1.3.

Next in line are the B-segment premium hatchbacks that compete with the ZXI/ZDI Plus. The Baleno Alpha gets you a premium hatch in top trim. The Baleno is a spacious hatch with decent performance and same Maruti badge as the Dzire. Under the same price CVT petrol Baleno is also an option. Another compact sedan available in the same pricing is the Amaze VX, and top-of-the-line Aspire Titanium Plus. The Bolero ZLX BS IV gets you Indian-bred SUV at the same price. The Ertiga ZXI+ is the full-size MPV that comes in at the pricing of the Dzire ZDI plus.

Finally, you have the Dzire diesel ZXI Plus AMT and the ZDI Plus AMT coming in at Rs 8.41 lakh and Rs 9.41 lakh, respectively. At this pricing, you can have a look at the C-segment sedans including the Ciaz Alpha 1.3, or the entry level Honda City SV petrol. These sedans are a notch higher, but you get a lower to mid variants of the sedans at the pricing of the top-of-the-line Dzire. The same is the case with the crossover SUV body style. The Renault Duster RXL manual petrol or the entry-level Hyundai Creta E 1.6 petrol can get you an SUV styling, however, opt for the Vitara Brezza compact SUV, the ZDI Plus can be had for almost the same price as the ZDI Plus AMT Dzire. You get a compact SUV but miss out on the automatic transmission.
