Lexus India has confirmed that the new generation Lexus ES will be launched in India on 20 March. The luxury sedan will arrive in the country less than a year after its global unveiling and will replace the current ES sold here.

In terms of design, the upcoming ES adopts a sharper styling language compared to the outgoing model. The front end features sleek lighting elements and a reworked grille design, while the rear gets a full-width LED light bar with illuminated Lexus lettering. The new generation also has larger dimensions and a longer wheelbase, which should translate to improved cabin space.
Under the hood, the sedan is expected to be offered with hybrid powertrain options similar to the outgoing model. Globally, the ES range includes petrol hybrid variants such as the ES300h and ES350h with different power outputs and drivetrain configurations. The hybrid system is paired with an e-CVT gearbox and can be had with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts.

Inside, the new ES gets a more minimalist dashboard layout centred around a large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver display. Other highlights include a premium Mark Levinson sound system, a panoramic glass roof, reclining rear seats, and an advanced driver assistance system suite.
Once launched, the new Lexus ES will continue to compete in the midsize luxury sedan segment against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase, and Audi A6.
