Volkswagen has launched new variants of its popular sedans Passat and Jetta in the Indian auto market. Volkswagen introduced a new petrol version of its luxury sedan VW Passat which is now compliant with the new emission norms that come into effect from today. VW Passat will be now powered with smaller 1.8L TSI petrol engine that delivers out 160PS of maximum power and 250Nm of maximum torque. A smaller engine means that the new Passat is now more price competitive to compete with Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The new petrol variant of VW Passat is now priced at Rs. 19.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new 1.8L engine is also more fuel efficient, high-powered and compact delivering fuel efficiency of 12.69 kmpl.

Volkswagen Jetta also gets a new 2.0L CRDI diesel engine that delivers 110PS of maximum power at 4200rpm and 250Nm of max torque between 1500 to 2500rpm. The Comfortline model is priced at Rs. 15.6 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.

"The Passat TSI and Jetta common rail diesel engines are so well refined that not only will they provide superior driving experience but also decrease fuel consumption and lower emissions," Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India, Neeraj Garg, said.
