New Jeep Wrangler to be introduced in India on 9 August

The fourth-generation of Jeep Wrangler is due for launch in India on 9 August. In the past, the Sahara and the Rubicon variants of the Wrangler were spied on a test. It is however believed that Jeep might offer the Wrangler in the Rubicon variant with the Moab exterior package which is popular in international markets. The new-generation Wrangler will continue to be based on the ladder-frame construction.

Known for its off-roading prowess, the new-gen Jeep Wrangler uses high-strength steel frame, while the hood, doors, and windshield frame are made of aluminium. As compared to the previous generation, the upcoming model will offer a better approach and departure angles, limited slip differential and more. As for features, it is expected to get new Uconnect infotainment from the Jeep Compass.

Mechanically, the US-spec Jeep Wrangler is available in four engine options. These include a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 270bhp and 400Nm of torque; a 3.6-litre, V6 petrol that produces 285bhp and 353Nm of torque; a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel that generates 197bhp and 450Nm of torque and a 3.0-litre, V6-diesel that produces 240bhp and 570Nm of torque. The engines are available in six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic options. As for pricing, we expect it to be priced between Rs 60-65 lakhs (ex-showroom).
