An all-new generation of the Hyundai Santro was spotted recently. One of the prototypes of the popular hatch was seen undergoing testing in freezing conditions in Europe.

New Hyundai Santro spotted on test

The car you see here is the European-spec model (dubbed Atos Prime) that will be sold below the i10 globally. Hyundai discontinued the Atos Prime back in early 2008 in favour of the then-new i10. Besides India, the Santro/Atos Prime was sold in Asia and Europe. Since then we have had two generations of the i10, but these spy shots prove that Hyundai is going to present a new offering below the i10 globally, too.

The next-gen Santro will be powered by a small and efficient petrol engine. The displacement will be somewhere between 800 and 1,000cc in three-cylinder configuration. As for the gearbox, power will be sent to the road via a 5-speed manual. The new Santro will be seen competing with cars like the 1.0-litre Renault Kwid, Maruti Celerio and the Wagon R.
