      New Hyundai i20 Elite expected to enter stiff competition with the new Fiat Punto Evo

      Two big names in the automobile industry - Fiat and Hyundai has planned to launch refreshingly new Punto Evo and i20 Elite this month. Both the cars have been present in the Indian market for quite a while now and competition is bound to get stronger once the newer versions take it to the tarmac. Hyundai has revealed the official launch date for the new Hyundai i20 Elite to be on 11th August. Whereas the new Fiat Punto Evo has just been launched today.

      The front section of the upcoming Hyundai i20 Elite shall sport well-established Hyundai hexagonal grille and a new thin horizontal strip connecting the headlamps. The rear section of the hatchback gets a wrap-around rear window that renders unique treatment for the lamp clusters to combine with the car’s hatchback proportions to create a distinctive design. The new i20 Elite hatchback shall available in petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version is expected to be powered by a 1.2 Litre Kappa 2 engine that generates about 83 PS of power, whereas the diesel version is expected to be powered by 1.4 Litre engine that generates about 90 PS of power. The engines are expected to be mated with 6 speed or 5 speed manual variant. It is also anticipated that the newer petrol version shall also get 4-speed automatic transmission alongside the regular manual version.

      A while ago interior images of the i20 Elite had gone viral all over the Internet. If images are to be believed, the new version may get two tone color scheme in dark brown and beige. Soft touch material has been used for top portion of the dashboard and the center console may get cool-blue back lighting.

      The updated Punto Evo has been launched in four trim levels namely - Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport. The Sport Variant is restricted to only the diesel version that is powered by 1.3L multi-jet engine that generates a power of about 90 bhp. The standard diesel model is offered in all three variants- Active, Dynamic and Emotion. The Active and Emotion trims are powered by 1.2 Liter engine that generates a power of about 67 bhp . Whereas, the Emotion variant gets the top-spec 90 bhp engine.

      As for the interiors, the Fiat Punto Evo shares some similarities with the Linea saloon. The vehicle's dashboard has been restyled and it gets additional features. The cabin area is adorned with dual-tone (Black-Beige) interior, while the 90bhp Sport variant gets all-black theme. The company has given silver accents to AC vents, instrument panel and center console. Adding to it, the vehicle is equipped with rear AC vents, while the rear legroom and boot space remains unchanged. The vehicle has been launched at Rs. 4.55 lakh for petrol, whereas the diesel version is priced at about Rs. 5.27 lakhs. Both the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
