An all-new Hyundai Grand i10 will reach the Indian roads on 20 August and ahead of its launch, we can confirm that the next-generation Grand i10 will get a five-speed ‘Smart Auto’ AMT with the petrol engine.

The AMT will replace the four-speed torque converter, and will likely be offered on the Magna and Sportz variants. The outgoing model gets the AT in the above-mentioned trims, and we don’t expect the AMT variants to be any different on the new car. Further, the new Hyundai Santro, which is the first car from the Korean carmaker to feature an AMT, also gets it in the Magna and Sportz trims.

Besides the 1.2-litre petrol motor, the new Hyundai Grand i10 will also get a 1.2-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine that makes 74bhp and 190Nm. A five-speed manual transmission will be standard across both the powertrains. And we can also expect a CNG version somewhere down the product lifecycle.

This next-generation Hyundai Grand i10 will be underpinned by an all-new platform, and the car is expected to be longer and wider than the model it replaces. It will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo and the upcoming Renault Triber.
