The existing version of Eon hatchback shall also be sold alongside the new 1.0 variant. The older version is powered by 814 cc engine that generates a peak power of about 56 bhp at 5500 rpm and peak torque of about 76 Nm at 4000 rpm. The 0.8 Liter version is mated to a 5-speed manual gear box. The new Magna+ gets a 1.0 Liter three-cylinder engine that generates about 69 Ps at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of about 9.6 kgm at 3500 rpm. The new Euro 5 ready, Kappa petrol engine is equipped with latest Dual VTVT technology and delivers an enhanced driving experience without needing frequent gear shifts. The current version of Hyundai Eon delivers about 16-18 kmpl and the newer version reportedly delivers an impressive fuel efficiency figure of about 20.3 kmpl (ARAI tests).

On the technological front, aluminum head and block has been used in the all-aluminum 1.0 Litre Kappa engine. This has helped in eliminating extra noise, vibration & harshness levels (NVH) from the engine. The five speed gearbox has been further refined to enable a smoother gear shift. Overall, the performance is better and refined than the existing version. Moreover, it is interesting to see that Hyundai has tweaked the performance numbers without delivering a huge blow to the efficiency figures.
