Honda CR-V's latest iteration, which was internationally launched in 2011, may be launched in India shortly after July 2012, though no dates have been released by the manufacturer. The company is expected to bring the car in the country after its European roll out, which is anticipated to be held by mid-2012. India will probably get the European version of the car, which is quite different from its American edition.

The European model of this fourth generation crossover vehicle will be exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012. The version headed for Europe is considered to be more attractive than its American counterpart due to various stylistic changes made by the company, along with the refreshed bumper.

Honda CR-V 2012 has been assimilated with a 2.2 L i-DTEC diesel motor, though the same engine may not come to India. The Japanese auto giant has refrained from launching the diesel version of the car in the country till now as it believes that the quality of diesel sold here is not ideal for the 2.2 L i-DTEC engine. However, this engine has been used by the company in the previous iterations of CR-V in the international market for quite some time.

The manufacturer will be launching the new CR-V at a time when competitors like Toyota and Chevrolet are bringing out the updated editions of their own premium Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs). However, the new Toyota Fortuner and Chevrolet Captiva 2.2 AT will hit Indian roads with diesel variants, which may affect the sales of Honda's SUV. However, nothing can be said concretely as the company has enjoyed tremendous sales volumes because of the car's off-roading capabilities and luxury features without a diesel variant in the past.
