Maruti Suzuki is aiming to launch a series of new cars in the next couple of years. This year, the company will launch several new and facelifts of existing cars. India’s largest maker will launch SX4 S-Cross crossover, YRA premium hatchback, Ertiga facelift, Swift Dzire facelift and Celerio diesel. Early next year, the YBA compact SUV (Production-spec XA-Alpha) will enter our market. Adding to it, MSI is also working on the next-generation WagonR which is likely to go on sale by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
The new generation Maruti Wagon R will be offered in both five-seat and seven-seat options. The 7-seater model will also go on sale in the Indonesian market. It will rival against the Datsun Go+ MPV, which is scheduled to be launched on January 15, 2015. It is quite early to comment whether the Indian market will get the 7-seater version of the Wagon R or not. With the growing demand for compact utility vehicles, we expect that the country’s largest carmaker might introduce this model in India.
The seven-seater Wagon R will be positioned under the Ertiga MPV, which is also likely to get facelift. The Maruti Ertiga facelift will go on sale in India this year. The updated MPV is likely to be more fuel efficient than the outgoing model. The Wagon R 7-seater is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options.
