Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been due for a major upgrade for quite a while now. Ahead of the Prado facelift model launch later this year, the vehicle was spotted without camouflage. The new model is expected to be first introduced in Japan in September, followed by its debut in the Middle East sometime towards the end of this year. In India, the new Land Cruiser Prado is expected to be launched in 2018 and will continue to be sold via the CBU route.
As seen in pictures, the new Land Cruiser Prado gets a new fascia that includes horizontal units with projector headlamps and LED DRLs. The bumpers have been redesigned to appear bolder and sharper than the outgoing model. The upcoming model also gets a new radiator grille with five prominent vertical bars with double slats between them. The rear section will now feature redesigned 3D tail lamps and a new tailgate design. The spare wheel cover has been carried forth from the current model. As for the interior, it is believed that it will carry forth most of the elements from the Land Cruiser.
Under the hood, Toyota Pradois likely to continue with the 3.0-litre diesel with automatic transmission in India. As for the international market, the Prado is available in three petrol units – 2.7-litres, a 3.5-litres V6 and a 4.0-litre V6. The diesel powertrain on the other hand is available in three four-cylinder options – a 2.8-litre unit and two 3.0-litre variants. In terms of safety, the new model is expected to be offered with Toyota Safety Sense P package which includes features like Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Control with Steering Assist and Pedestrian Detection.
Toyota is expected to extend the GST price benefit offers to the new Land Cruiser Prado as well. Hence, we believe that the new model might be similarly priced.
