The compact sedan Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is a top seller in its segment. To continue its legacy and keep customers interested, the company has been working on the next-gen model which will be introduced sometime by the mid of 2017. This time around, test mule of the upcoming vehicle have been spotted which further strengthens our belief that we will see it on our roads next year.
Upgrades in the next-gen Swift Dzire will be limited to fresh design upgrades, while it will continue to be powered by existing 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel which has been sourced from Fiat. Though the test mule is heavily camouflaged, in terms of design it will be based on the upcoming next-gen Swift hatchback which might be unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Based on what can be seen, the upcoming model is expected to carry a sharper design rather than the current curvy design. The sides are not expected to get major upgrades except for revised alloys, while the front might get projector headlamps and a new grille.
The new model is also expected to be a little lighter in weight in comparison to the existing model. As for the interior, the new model is expected to be tweaked for freshness and also get a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay in the top spec version. Though a top seller in its category, the new model will further strengthen its position against the Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo. More details about the upcoming vehicle will be known in the coming days.
