It seems that Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited (MBIPL) is trying hard to regain the number one position in the luxury car segment with its intentions to launch the G63 AMG in 2013. The new vehicle, which will be replacing its predecessor G55 AMG, will feature both external and engine updates.

Reportedly, the new G63 will generate more power than the G55. The G63 AMG will be powered by a massive 5.5 litre V8 engine, which would generate 544 bhp and 760 Nm of torque. The engine would be mated to the AMG Speed shift plus 7G-tronic Automatic gearbox. Certain exterior changes have also been made, such as a new grille, side-mounted exhaust system and new mag wheels.

From inside, an SLS style steering wheel, gauge cluster and shifter are the new bits. In addition, seat upholstery has been changed and new Comand software has been installed in the infotainment system. Other features in the G63 AMG include park assist, rear view camera, blind spot assist, cruise control, trailer stability assist, hill-hold and electronic stability system.

This vehicle is expected to be launched during mid 2013 at an expected price Rs. 94 lakhs. First the G63 would be released in Europe, following which it would be launched in other countries. Manufacturing of this model would be taking place in Austria, just like the G55.
