India’s largest car manufacturer and second largest car exporter Maruti Suzuki unveiled its new engine plant at Gurgaon, Delhi. The company intends to bring new technology and more fuel efficient cars for its customers in India. The new engine plant is yet another step towards its set goals.

"We are happy to introduce a brand new family of petrol engines for our customers. Maruti Suzuki is the first company to introduce fuel-efficient vehicles in India, way back in 1983 and have continuously improved the technologies over the years. Like all Maruti Suzuki technology, this new engine engine is highly fuel efficient, while offering the best in refinement and performance. It will take the engine technology to the next level in India,” said Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director Maruti Suzuki.

The new manufacturing unit at Gurgaon will manufacture energy efficient 1,197cc K12M petrol engines. The four-cylinder engine, designed to deliver 85 ps of power, is the second aluminium engine being manufactured by Maruti in the country after the K10B, which is being used in the recently launched A-star. The K12M engine will be used in the car maker's upcoming hatchback Ritz, a company statement said.
