Honda Motor Company unveiled its new electric scooter EV-neo in the Japanese market yesterday. Honda stated that it initially plans to introduce the model in the Japanese market only. The popular customers are expected to be the pizza delivery services. Honda introduced the model as “quiet and clean and contributing to creating a low-carbon society."

The new EV-neo is powered by an electric motor that can be quickly charged up to 80 percent of its capacity in about 20 minutes. Regular charging will take up to four hours to charge the battery completely. The scooter has similar capacity as of a 50cc petrol engine and can run up to 30 kilometres in a single charge.

Honda will start leasing the scooters to domestic companies this year. It currently does not have any plans to export these scooters but it may do so at a later date after exploring and assessing the demand in the Japanese market. Honda, Nissan, Toyota have been global leaders in eco-friendly vehicles where Toyota Prius still leads the world market of hybrid cars.
