      New details emerge on Maruti Swift facelift

      Maruti Suzuki India’s flagship hatchback, Swift is all set to be rolled out in a new avatar. Changes made to the vehicle are confined to cosmetic upgrades only; no tweak has been made on the mechanical front. Cosmetic upgrades made to the vehicle will lend it a new look amid its competition that has also undergone modification. Rumours suggest that MSI has begun production of new Swift that is slated to come out by the end of current year.

      Changes will be seen primarily in the mid and high level trims while entry level variant is expected to sport minimal tweaks. Prominent cosmetic revivifications bestowed upon Vxi and Zxi trims include day time running lights. Newly designed alloy wheels will be equipped on the range topping Zxi variant, while Vxi will get redesigned wheel caps. Both the trims are likely to come with an option of either body-coloured or chrome door handles.

      Equipments exquisite to top-of-the-line variant Zxi could comprise of power folding ORVMs, auto-up feature on the driver’s side power window and keyless entry. Mechanically the hatchback will inherit same engine options as available on the current version. Petrol variants are expected to house a 1.2 litre, K-Series petrol motor. Diesel range will continue to be powered by the Fiat sourced 1.3 litre, Multijet diesel powertrain. Both the engines will be matched to a conventional five-speed manual gearbox. On the price front, new avatar of Swift is likely to come with a starting price of Rs 4.5 lakh while range topping variant expected to carry a price tag of Rs 7 lakh.
